Cases of domestic violence main reason of women atrocity: SWC

Bokaro, Dec 27 (UNI) State Women Commission Chairperson Lakshmi Singh today said that cases of domestic violence and dowry deaths were major concern for women in Jharkhand.

Talking to reporters here, Ms Singh said cases related to witchcraft killing had also increased in the rural areas of the state.

Ms Singh said the state government should form certain rules and expedite awareness programmes to check violence against women, adding that women themselves should be aware of their rights.

Ms Singh said that altogether 600 cases of women atrocities had been registered with the commision and about 200 had been solved so far.

NTPC to raise Rs 2,000 cr through loans, bonds

Rakesh Sood appointed Ambassador to Nepal

New Delhi, Dec 27 (UNI) Mr Rakesh Sood, presently Ambassador to Afghanistan, has been appointed envoy to Nepal replacing Mr Shivshanker Mukherjee will be the new High Commissioner in London.
