New Delhi, Dec 27 (UNI) The BJP today strongly condemned the violence against its candidate in the ahead of Bolagarh assembly bypoll in West Bengal by the 'goons' of the CPI-M and said that the ruling party was continuing to unleash violence against the Opposition after Nandigram.
BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said that the CPI-M cadres led by son of former MLA had mercilessly beat up Mr Bansi Raut, a 68 year old landless BJP leader. Her had been admitted in the district hospital in serious condition. An FIR had been lodged with the police and Election authorities.
He said the continued violence by CPI-M goons showed that the West Bengal Chief Minister Buddadeb Bhattacharjee's 'kshama yachana' rally in Nandigram was meaningless, because the victims of Bhoomi Uched Pratirod Samiti had boycotted it. The rally at best can only be a CPI-M rally because even the cheque disbursal was the family of CPI-M worker killed in clashes and not in police firing, he said.
He said the CM also has a Constitutional role to protect ordinary people and not just his own partymen who were busy burning down the houses of defence personnel in Nandigram. The local administration was foisting 'bogus complaints' against the CRPF and CBI to demoralise them.
Asked about the violence in Orissa where several churches were burnt, Mr Javadekar said the violence had roots in ongoing struggle between the churches and the 'Kui Samaj' which was resisting the Christian ''designs'' on dalits of the area.
