Benazir assassination bad for Pakistan, region: Natwar

New Delhi, Dec 27 (UNI) Former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh said he was ''shattered'' at the assassination of Pakistan's former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and said it was bad not only for Pakistan but for the entire region.

''...it is not only bad for Pakistan but for the region...

Lot of people were looking upto her,'' the former External Affairs Minister said.

He described the incident an ''act of cowardice'' for the people who want an end to terrorism.

''Our hearts and minds go out to the family, of whom not many are left, and to her children...'' Mr Natwar Singh said.

Food poisoning: 97 students hospitalised

Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, Dec 27 (UNI) As many as 97 students of a panchayat union school were hospitalised for suspected food poisoning after they partook noon meals at the school at Oothukadu village in Kumbakonam in this district today. Police sources said the students, including 50 girls, were rushed to the Kumbakonam Government Hospital after they started vomiting and fainted. Hospital sources said the children were out of danger. However, they would be kept under observation in the hospital.....

Police held smuggler with contraband ganja bound for Kolkata

Nawada, Dec 27 (UNI) In a major seizure of narcotics, police today arrested a member of an inter-state smuggle gang and confiscated about eleven quintals of ganja from his posession in Bihar. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar said Panchu Sahni, the member of drug smuggling gang, was arrested from Fatehpur under Akbarpur police station area in the district.
