Bank employee arrested while accepting bribe

Sangrur, Dec 27 (UNI) The Punjab Vigilance Bureau today nabbed a bank employee while accepting a bribe from a resident of Chajwali village for sanctioning a loan.

According to Vigilance sources, Surinder Singh, an employee of the State Bank of Patiala in Chajwali village had demanded a bribe of Rs 5000 from a resident of the village for sanctioning an unemployment loan of Rs 50,000.

The bank employee has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Madurai, Dec 27 (UNI) A 28-year-old remand prisoner gave the slip to escort police ignorant of the fact that he had been granted bail, and promptly landed behind the bars again. Police sources said Jayachandran (28), who was involved in several theft cases, had been lodged in Madurai Central prison. He was taken to Chennai in connection with a theft case and was produced before a court on December 21, the day on which a Madurai Court had ordered his release.....

Bank of India to raise Tier I capital through QIP

New Delhi, Dec 27 (UNI) Bank of India today said that it plans to raise Tier I capital by way of Issue of upto 3,77,72,600 equity shares through Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) route. The same will be decided in the board meeting to be held on January 23, a release stated. The Bank has also received the approval from the Ministry of Finance for this purpose which stipulates that the placement will be made only with public sector enterprises and mutual.....

Kerala for load shedding from New year Day

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 27 (UNI) The Kerala government has decided to go for load shedding for 15 days from January 1 due to repair work at the Neriamangalam-extension generating station. Briefing newspersons after a Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said load shedding would be for half-an-hour during evening peak hours.
