Badal expresses shock over Benazir's assassination

Chandigarh, Dec 27 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that the assassination of the former Pakistan Prime Minister Ms Benazir Bhutto was ''too shocking for words.'' In a statement here today, Mr Badal said Ms Bhutto's efforts to restore democracy in her country will long be remembered.

The Chief Minister also shared his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty to give strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss and grant peace to the departed soul.

Karnataka claims girls singles, doubles titles

Nellore, Dec 27 (UNI) Karnataka tonight won the girls singles and doubles titles in the Junior National Badminton Championship here. In the finals, fourth seeded V Ruth Misha of Karnataka defeated third seeded N Sikki Reddy of Andhra Pradesh 21-23, 21-17, 21-12.
