Accused of serial incidents of loot found dead in Car

Jaipur, Dec 27 (UNI) One of the criminals who had allegedly assaulted and looted one and a half dozen people here last night, was found dead in a stolen car near Amer town this morning.

According to the police the body of Kamal Singh, a resident of Bulandshahr (UP) was found in the overturned car reportedly snatched by the two looters from a businessman Nitin Gupta in the C-Scheme area here last night and it seemed that the duo met with a road accident.

Prior to the snatching of the car from Gupta, the duo suspectedly assaulted iron rods over 15 persons in about a dozen incidents within a span of three hours in the capital city last night, and robbed the victims of cash and other belongings.

The injured were admitted to the SMS Hospital here.

In a similar incident, two masked men had created panic by resorting to firing from their country made weapons at two places in Nasirabad Mandi area in Ajmer last night.

Nobody sustained in injuries in the incident but the traders of the area observed a bandh today in protest against the incidents.

Rs 66.50 crore being spent on road projects in Ganderbal

Srinagar, Dec 27 (UNI) An amount of Rs 66.50 crores is being spent on different road projects under various Centrally and state -sponsored schemes in Ganderbal district where work on Tulabagh Sheer Pathri Receiving Station would be taken up in January. Kerala for load shedding from New year Day

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 27 (UNI) The Kerala government has decided to go for load shedding for 15 days from January 1 due to repair work at the Neriamangalam-extension generating station. Briefing newspersons after a Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said load shedding would be for half-an-hour during evening peak hours. Lashing out at the Centre for cutting Kerala's power quota, the state had to get 323 MW power but had got only 183 MW, he said adding the State.....

Editors appeal to relax Taslima's ''jail-like'' conditions

New Delhi, Dec 27 (UNI) Coming out in support of Bangladeshi Writer Taslima Nasreen, leading editors and intellectuals have appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to relax the ''close to prison conditions'' in which she is being kept under the Central government's care, arguing that this is ''beginning to strain her mental health''. In separate letters to Dr Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, they said: ''Despite her repeated requests to the officials in charge of her security, she has neither.....
