AAI, Punjab to sign MoU on Mohali Airport on Jan 4

Chandigarh, Dec 27 (UNI) The Airport Authority of India (AAI) and the Punjab government would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) here on January 4 to set up an international airport at Mohali.

Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel alongwith Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal would lay the foundation stone of the project on the same day.

A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting when Mr Badal called on the Civil Aviation Minister in his office at New Delhi late last evening.

According to Media Advisor to Chief Minister Harcharan Bains, Mr Patel also agreed to Mr Badal's proposal to initially start weekly or bi-weekly international flights from and to the existing terminal of Chandigarh Airport to Dubai by October next year and later flights to London, Vancouver and other countries.

Veteran freedom fighter Ravindra Sanatan dead

Pratapgarh, Dec 27 (UNI) Veteran freedom fighter and senior journalist Ravindra Sanatan passed away after prolonged illness in the state capital this morning. He was 89. Mr Sanatan succumbed in the Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj Medical University, Lucknow. Born in Ballia district, he had been living in Pratapgarh since 1959. Viva Kerala Chairman bags E C Bharatan Memorial award

Kozhikode, Dec 27 (UNI) Viva Kerala Soccer Club Chairman P Bhaskaran has been chosen for the maiden E C Bharatan Memorial Football award for his contribution to the field. The award instituted by E C Bharatan Memorial Trust, carried a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and a citation, Trust Chairperson Prasilla Mascreneas told newspersons here today. Vajpayee celebrates his 84th birthday

New Delhi, Dec 25, 2007 : Senior BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee celebrated his 84th birthday on December 25th in the Indian capital New Delhi. A large number of villagers, school children and dignitaries including many political leaders visited Vajpayee"s residence to greet him. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was among the first to wish the former Prime Minister. The leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party met him and wished him a happy and long life. Watch.....
