Bangalore, Dec 21: Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, who underwent a 'successful' open heart surgery at a private super speciality hospital on Dec 20, is recovering well, Chief cardiovascular surgeon who operated upon the JD(S) leader said.
Dr Vivek Jawali, who headed the five-member surgeon's team that operated upon Mr Kumaraswamy to replace the blocked 'calcific aortic valve', said he was off all machines and sedation since yesterday itself. "He is alert and awake. All his parameters are normal. He had dinner yesterday and also met all his family members. He is upbeat," he said. He would be kept in the ICU for another day before shifting him to a ward. He is likely to be discharged from the hospital in a week, Dr Javali said.
It may be recalled that the Former Karnataka Chief Minsiter H D Kumaraswamy got admitted into Super speciality hospital, Wockhardt, on Monday complaining chest pain. The doctors who attended the former Chief Minister had diagnoised him for blocked calcific arotic valve, which needed replacement to pave way for smooth pumping out of blood from the heart.
