Bangalore, Dec 15(UNI) Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium
Enterprises (MSME) Mahavir Prasad today asked the State Governments to
popularise the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust Scheme (CGFT) among financial
institutions to help first generation entrepreneurs.
Addressing a review meeting with Karnataka government officials here, he said
that the Central scheme was practically non-existent and weary few financial
institutions are accepting applications in the State.
He said he would urge the Defence and Railway Ministries to increase the
procurement of goods produced by micro industries from the present four per
cent.
Mr Prasad said that the Centre has stressed the need for self employment
generation for SC, ST, economically poor, farmers and women to make them
economically independent through various schemes in the rural areas.
