47 get life imprisonment in past 48 hours in Bihar

Patna, Dec 15 (UNI) As many as 47 people were awarded life imprisonment by differnet fast track courts in Bihar during the last 48 hours.

Official sources here said these cases had been pursued to bring speedy justice to the people of the state.

While fast track court at Buxar awarded life imprisonment to 16 people in connection with abduction and dacoity cases on Thursday, others at Nalanda, East Champaran, Madhubani and Banka awarded the same punishment to 10, eight, nine and four people accused in different murder cases yesterday.

Special welfare measures taken for temple priests : CM

Hyderabad, Dec 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said his government had initiated several measures to improve the economic condition of temple priests in the state. Speaker to decide on no-confidence against Koda on Dec 17

Ranchi, Dec 15 (UNI) The BJP-led Opposition in Jharkhand today sent a petition to Speaker Alamgir Alam seeking to move a no-confidence motion against UPA-backed Madhu Koda government. Mr Alam informed the House of the proposed motion by Oppostion leader Arjun Munda and four others. Altogether 33 members from the Opposition stood in favour of the motion, after which the Speaker said he would give his verdict on December 17. LTTE active in Tamil Nadu: Union Minister
