Viva Kerala to open football academy in Kozhikode

Kozhikode, Dec 14: Aimed at spotting and grooming talent, leading soccer club Viva Kerala will set up a soccer academy here soon.

Talking to newspersons last night its president P Bhaskaran and secretary V M Liaquat Ali said a plot for the ground had been identified and acquisition of land was on.They said the club also planned to form Under-15 and U-20 teams as part of expanding its activities.The company also proposed to divest its stakes to generate fund for development activities.Viva is scheduled to begin its campaign against Salgaocar Sports Club, Goa in its home matches in the maiden Indian Professional League (I-League) here tomorrow.

Kozhikode keen to host Football League

Kozhikode, Nov 16: The Kozhikode District Football Association (KDFA) has expressed its willingness to host matches for 'Viva Kerala' in the maiden National Professional Football League (NPFL), slated to begin in December 2008.
