Top naxal leader's wife surrenders

Warangal, Dec 14 (UNI) A top naxal leader's wife today surrendered before police, stating that she was vexed with top cadres' attitude towards women comrades.

Penuka Rama, wife of Gampala Raghupathi alias Mohanna, the state committee secretary of Praja Prathighatana Party surrendered before Superintendent of Police Soumya Mishra along with one squad member Malothu Naveen.

Renuka, party's Mehboobabad area commander, alleged that her husband refused to provide for medical treatment when she fell sick recently. She raised protests in the party meetings against Mohanna and expressed her desire to surrender.

However, she was denied permission to join the mainstram and shifted to party's Khammam area.

The reformed naxal said, ''there is no equality in the party. The party leaders are indifferent to the problems of women members. I lost confidence in them.'' Malothu Naveen, the other surrendered naxal, a native of Jangalapalli in Mulug mandal, was a member of Mohananna dalam of the party.

The surrendered naxals would be eligible for the rehabilitation package, the Superintendent of Police said.

BCCI revises Duleep Trophy schedule

Mumbai, Dec 14 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revised the Duleep Trophy programme with a few changes being made to the venues for the matches. The tournament, featuring the five zones and England Lions team, will be held in West Zone centres as scheduled from January 26 to February 23, 2008, according to BCCI's Cricket Operations manager Suru Nayak. Police eliminate two gangsters of Bunty Pandey in 'encounter'

Mumbai,Dec 14 (UNI) Two gangsters, belonging to the Bunty Pandey group, were shot dead in an encounter with officials of the crime branch near Andheri here today.
