SC directs CMDA not to regularize unauthorised constructions

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) The Supreme Court today directed Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority not to regularize any unauthorised construction in the city till further orders.

A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices R V Raveendran and J M Panchal adjourned till February next year, the hearing of the appeal filed by the state of Tamil Nadu against the Madras High Court judgement quashing the ordinance brought by the state goverment to protect encroachments and large scale illegal constructions in the city.

Goverment of Tamil Nadu is also following in the footsteps of the Central government which has also promulgated similar ordinance for protecting illegal constructions and encroachments in Delhi.

According to the petitioners in the High Court, there are large scale encroachments and illegal constructions in Chennai.

Ultras gun down a person, blow school building in Chatra

Chatra, Dec 14 (UNI) CPI(Maoist) gunned down one person and triggered explosion at a high school in Pandeypura village under Hunterganj police station area in this district of Jharkhand last night. BSF DG admits shortage of manpower, women to be inducted

Jalandhar, Dec 14 (UNI) Border Securty Force Director General A K Mitra today candidly admitted shortage of manpower in the force, both at the officer as well as constabulary level.
