Sanskrit mantras to open Colorado State Senate

Washington, Dec 14 (UNI) Colorado State Senate of US will reverberate with Sanskrit mantras for the first time on January 29.

Rajan Zed, a prominent Hindu chaplain, will read the historic opening prayer from ancient Sanskrit scriptures before Colorado Senate in Denver on this day. After Sanskrit delivery, he then will read the English translation of the prayer.

According to reports, no Hindu has delivered opening prayer in Colorado State Senate since first Colorado Legislative Assembly convened in September 1861.

Zed will recite from Rig Veda, the oldest scripture of the world, besides lines from Upanisads and Bhagavad-Gita. He plans to start and end the prayer with 'OM', the mystical syllable containing the universe, which in Hinduism is used to introduce and conclude religious work.
