Rs 1 lakh compensation to families of building collapse victims

Mumbai, Dec 14 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today announced compensation of Rs one lakh to the next of kin of victims of the building collapse in Borivali, north Mumbai.

Five people died and 17 were injured in the incident.

Soon after hearing of the tragedy, Mr Deshmukh reviewed the rescue and relief operations with authorities concerned and announced compensation of Rs one lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 10,000 to each of the injured.

He also instructed the authorities to ensure that the injured are treated properly.

Mr Deshmukh expressed sympathy for the affected persons and their families.

Jammu, Dec 14 (UNI) Akash Kumar struck an unbeaten 85 to help Uttar Pradesh reach 223 for seven against Jammu and Kashmir on the opening day of the Cooch Behar Under-19 Cricket Tournament here today.
