Srinagar, Dec 14 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed the state police to produce case diary of alleged custodial death of one Ghulam Rasool Lone, at Kulgam in 2001.
Justice Hakeem Imtiyaz Hussain gave the direction to police on a petition filed by relatives of Lone.
The petition alleged that on April 14, 2001 Lone was picked up by 15 counter insurgents, working with security forces in Kulgam camp.
They alleged that he was tortured to death by the counter insurgents and later buried in the compound of the camp despite protests by locals.
The petition further said police did not registered a case, forcing them to approach State Human Rights Commission.
Later brother of the deceased person filed an FIR in police station but no action was taken.
The court was informed that two of the counter insurgents have been killed while 13 others were still working with security forces in south Kashmir.
The petition further prayed that police should be directed to get the remains of Lone exhumed from the camp compound and handed them over to his (Lones) relative for proper burial.
