Pathankot turns out as coldest place in Punjab

Jalandhar, Dec 14 (UNI) The border town of Pathankot turned out to be the coldest place in Punjab, as people reeled under cold weather conditions following an overcast sky and rain at some places in the state.

The minimum temperture in Pathankot was recorded at 5 degrees Celsius, 0.9 degree below normal.

According to Defence Spokesman, the minimum temperature at Adampur airbase near Jalandhar fell to 6.4 degrees, 2.6 degrees above normal.

Amritsar recorded the minimum temperature at 6.4 degrees, 2.4 degrees above normal, while Halwara airbase, near Ludhiana, was cold at 6 degrees, 0.2 degree below normal.

The minimum temperature hovered at around 9.9 degrees, two degrees above normal, at Chandigarh, while Ambala in Haryana recorded the minimum temperature of 9.8 degrees, which was 3.5 degrees above normal.

The minimum temperature at most places in Jammu and Kashmir was below normal. In Jammu it was 7.8 degrees, 0.2 degree below normal, while in Udhampur it hovered around 3.4 degees, 0.6 degree below normal. However, the minimum temperature hovered 1.5 degrees above normal at-0.6 degree in Srinagar.

For the next 24 hours, the Weather Office has predicted mist and haze in the morning and fair to fine weather during the day accompanied by occassional haze in the evening.

'Terrorists may target Indian, US embassies'

Islamabad, Dec 14: Pakistani intelligence agencies have warned against suicide attacks by terrorists based in the tribal areas and Swat targeting Indian and US embassies. Sources quoted intelligence agencies as further saying that terrorists could target VVIPs including President Pervez Musharraf, former premier Benazir Bhutto, and sensitive national and military installations. Top targets include Indian and US embassies, their consulates and several other religious and political personalities are also on the hit list, said a confidential National Crisis Management Cell.....

Delhi: No HC order to curb Blueline menace

New Delhi, Dec 14: The Delhi High Court on Friday refused to pass an order to curb the menace posed by the capital"s Blueline bus fleet. Justices Mukul Mudgal and Reva Khetrapal said: "We have to see the effect of the Supreme Court order (of December 6) on the proceedings of this case.
