'Nandigram conspiracy to destabilise Left front'

Sriganganagar, Dec 14: Communist Party of India(Marxist) General Secretary Prakash Karat today described the violence in Nandigram as part of a conspiracy by the Trinamool Congress and the Maoists to destabilise the party-led Left Front government in West Bengal.

''The Nandigram violence is part of a conspiracy hatched by some non-political organisations to destablise the Left Front government in the state,'' Mr Karat, who was here in connection with the state party convention, told newspersons. He said the agitation started off as a campaign against land acquisition. But the matter was settled by Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee within one month by withdrawing the order in this regard, he said.

He alleged that Trinamool Congress and the Maoists have formed an alliance to destabilise the Left Front government in the state.

''They have been running a parallel government in Nandigram for the last 11 months forcing the state government to use force,'' he said.
