Mild eathquake hits Nanded and Koyna region of Maharashtra

Mumbai, Dec 14 (UNI) A low-intensity earthquake, with Koyna as the epicentre, hit Nanded and Koyna region of Maharashtra today, a Meteorology department official said here.

The earthquake, measuring 2.7 on the Richter scale, was felt initially at Nanded, while the one of 2.9 magnitude, hit Koyna region at around 1816 hrs the official told UNI

Nagpur, Dec 14 (UNI) Police detained 37 activists of the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) after they locked the two entry gates of office of the Zilla Parishad (ZP) in Buldhana today, demanding action against an official for alleged irregularities in the appointment of staff. Hyderabad, Dec 14 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today paid tributes to Potti Sreeramulu on the eve of his 55th death anniversary here. Dr Reddy, in a message, said Sreeramulu, who had laid down his life for the formation of Andhra Pradesh, worked for the welfare of the downtrodden.
