Lokayukt police investigating dumpers' purchase issue

Bhopal, Dec 14 (UNI) A special court today directed the Lokayukt Special Police Establishment to submit chargesheet on completing investigation into much-debated dumpers' purchase issue.

However, Special Judge R K Bhave did not fix the next date for hearing.

The Lokayukt police said a case was registered against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan under sections 200 and 156(3) of the CrPC and sections 420, 467, 471 and 120 (B) of the IPC.

The Lokayukt police said investigation was underway in the case.

Complainant Ramesh Sahu urged the court to direct the Lokayukt police to complete investigation soon.

The State Lokayukt had registered a first information report (FIR) against Mr Chouhan, his wife Sadhana Singh and others for alleged corruption in purchase of four dumpers that were later hired out to the Rewa-based J P Cement company. The FIR was registered following the directive of a special court of inquiry.

Ever since the FIR, the Opposition has been insisting on the Chief Minister's resignation.

The Opposition members did not even allow the state Assembly to run during the Winter Session which had to be curtailed after three days of sitting, during which the House saw uproarious scenes and bedlam in the well by the entire Opposition, mainly the Congress, demanding the CM's resignation.
