'Lezim' competition for Thane school children on Dec 18

Thane, Dec 14 (UNI) A day-long 'Lezim' competition for Thane school children will be held here on December 18.

The competition has been organised by Shivai Vidyaprasarak Mandal of Shivai Nagar.

Mandal President S Chavan, giving details of the competition here today, said that the competition is in its fourth year and is receiving an overwhelming response and if the trend continues we would go in for a 'Lezim Mahotsav'.

Chavan said that the competition started with only a handful of teams and the number increased to 14 last year and this year it is likely to go up to 25.

Chavan further informed that the winning team will get a prize money of Rs 15,000 and the best dressed team will also get a prize besides, other winning teams.

The competition aims to create an interest in folk culture among school children, Chavan said.

Kochi, Dec 14 (UNI) Former Kerala Minister R Ramachandran Nair died after a prolonged illness at a private hospital here today. He was 76 and is survived by wife and son.
