Kumawat appreciate training module to tackle Naxalites

Bhubaneswar, Dec 14 (UNI) Union Special Secretary, Internal Security, M L Kumawat today appreciated the advanced training being imparted to Special Operation Group (SOG) engaged in anti-naxal operation in Orissa.

Mr Kumawat, who inspected the Orissa Police Training Academy this morning, expressed his satisfaction over the high level of training and security preparedness in the state.

''Such training should also be given to SOG engaged in anti -naxal operation in other states,'' Mr Kumawat added.

Besides Mr Kumawat, top intelligence and police officials of naxal dominated states of Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarha, Maharshtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal visited the Academy and observed the training module.

Top police officials of nine naxal affected states were here to participate in the two day Task Force meeting, which began yesterday to take stock of the security preparedness by the naxal prone states.

The Union Secretary, who presided over the meeting, said naxalite problem could be tackled effectively if advanced training, better logistic support and intelligence inputs were provided to security prsonnel.

He said a democratically elected government could not be wished away by some divisive forces adding that the country has enough strength to deal with the naxal problem.

Mr Kumawat stressed the need for more synergy between the affected states and the centre to deal with the naxals. He said the level of naxal violence had significantly come down in the country barring a few incidents in Chhattisgarh.

He also denied the reports that in some areas of the state the naxals ran a parallel administration.

Orissa DGP Gopal Chandra Nanda claimed that the ''Orissa training module is considered as one of the best training programme on anti-naxal operation in the country.'' UNI

New Delhi, Dec 14: The Delhi High Court on Friday refused to pass an order to curb the menace posed by the capital"s Blueline bus fleet. Villager shot dead in clash

Shajapur, MP, Dec 14 (UNI) A villager was shot dead and seven others injured in a violent clash between two groups at district's Rampura village, police said today. The villagers turned into hostile groups and attacked each other after heated arguments on Wednesday on the issue of harbouring criminals and anti-social elements from outside in the village.
