J'khand govt approves Rs 250 cr package for HEC

Ranchi, Dec 14 (UNI) The Jharkhand government today approved of about Rs 250 crores for revival of public sector unit Heavy Engineering Corporation here.

The cabinet approved it in a meeting held at the state Secretariate here.

Cabinet Secretary N N Pandey said according to the package, the state government would provide about Rs 250 crores to the HEC for its revival against which the corporation would directly transfer 2,342 acres of land to the state government as Jharkhand State Electricity Board dues.

Mr Pandey said out of Rs 250 crores about Rs 80 crores would be paid for HEC buildings and open spaces before those buildings being used by the state government and remaining Rs 170 crores would be given as grant to the HEC.

Regarding dues of HEC with government departments, Mr Pandey said that the state government would directly pay Rs 500 crores to the JSEB as remainig dues of HEC and the corporation would be exempted from water resources and sales tax department dues.

The government would not make any payment to the HEC in the future against its lands.

In another major decision Mr Prabodh Ranjan Das, district and sessions judge of Dhanbad has been made chairman of commercial taxes tribunal.

The cabinet also gave its nod over formation of Jharkhand State Universitiy (Constituent and Affiliated colleges) Service Commission and a bill in this regard would be introduced in the ongoing winter session.

The cabinet also gave its approval to various other proposals, including construction and expansion of roads in Koderma and Gumla districts.

Cold claims 3 lives in UP, toll rises to 38, more snow in HP

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) Intense cold conditions in Uttar Pradesh claimed three more lives overnight taking the nationwide death toll to 38 as Himachal Pradesh experienced fresh snowfall and rains lashed isolated places in Punjab and Haryana .
