ISB, Govt join hands to help innovators

Hyderabad, Dec 14 (UNI) The Indian School of Business (ISB) and the Union Ministry of Science and Technology are organising 'Metamorphosis,' a platform to bring together grassroot innovators and business school students.

This is probably the first time Indian innovators are being offered concrete solutions to make their invention a successful business venture.

The competition has attracted 135 teams of students from various B Schools and IITs from across the country. Of them, 15 teams have been selected for the final round of the competition, which will be held on December 17 at the ISB campus.

The Central government has identified several inventors and supported them with initial funding to develop their idea into a well functioning prototype, according to a release here.

Govt rejects Airtel, Idea offer for additional spectrum

New Delhi, Dec 14: In a new twist to the ongoing spectrum war, the government has rejected the offer of Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular for providing a second licence in 4.4 MHz spectrum for pan-India operations. ''The matter is with the Additional Solicitor General and unless the legal tangles are cleared, there is no question of bidding'' Telecom Minister A Raja told reporters here on Dec 13. Country's leading mobile carrier Bharti Airtel earlier this week offered Rs 2,650 crore.....

HP High Court issues notice to Election Commission

Shimla, Dec 14: The Himachal Pradesh High Court has issued a notice to the Election Commission (EC) on a petition filed by a Congress candidate whose nomination papers were rejected by it in Kangra district. The court, in its order, directed the Commission to file its reply by December 17 on the rejection of the nomination papers of Bodh Raj from Gangath constituency following which there was no party candidate from that constituency.Mr Raj, whose election from the same constituency stands.....

Musharraf takes charge of nuke arsenal

Islamabad, Dec 14: President Pervez Musharraf has taken charge of Pakistan"s nuclear arsenal by issuing an ordinance that makes him head of the National Command authority. The National Command Authority will "ensure security and safety of nuclear establishments, nuclear materials" and safeguard all "information and technology related to the security and safety of the strategic organisation". The ordinance, which comes into force with immediate effect, says that the President will be Chairman and the Prime Minister vice-chairman if the National Command Authority......
