Ireland to host inaugural ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier

Dubai, Dec 14 (UNI) Ireland will host the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in August next year, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said today.

The tournament, which will be staged from August 2 to 4 at the Stormont ground in Belfast, will feature the six Associate ODI teams -- Bermuda, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, the Netherlands and Scotland.

The two finalists will join the 10 Full Members at the next ICC World Twenty20 in England, besides receiving 250,000 dollars each for qualifying.

Chief Executive of the Irish Cricket Union (ICU), Warren Deutrom has welcomed the announcement.

''The ICU is excited at the prospect of hosting this inaugural Associate World Twenty20 on home soil in Stormont,'' he said.

''Three games a day for three days in this highly popular form of the game will surely attract the interest of the Irish public.'' UNI

Groundnutseed and its oil ease, Palm oil rises

Mumbai, Dec 14 (UNI) Prices of groundnutseed and its oil declined today owing to thin buying support while nigerseed, groundnut de-oiled cakes and palm oil rose due to heavy demand from retailers from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and southern regions, traders at the Bombay Commodity Exchange (BCE) said here. Spl Lok Adalats to settle pending labour cases

Chandigarh, Dec 14 (UNI) Haryana State Legal Services Authority (HALSA) has decided to hold Special Lok Adalats for the settlement of pending labour cases in all the Tribunals cum Labour courts in five districts of Haryana from December 15. Stating this here today, a HALSA spokesman said the districts where these special Lok Adalats would be held included Gurgoan, Faridabad, Rohtak, Hisar, Ambala and Panipat. UNI.....

'Gujarat given more central assistance'

Ahmedabad, Dec 14: Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram today said the Centre had given to Gujarat more money in the past four years than to any other state. The Centre gave Rs 14,000 crore from taxes to the state during 2004-05 and 2007-08, while for both the Plan and non-plan grants put together, it was another Rs 10,000 crore, Mr Chidambaram told reporters here.
