ING Vysya Life Insurance to inject Rs 100 Cr equity in December

Bangalore, Dec 14(UNI) Registering a faster growth than industry average, ING Vysya Life Insurance (IYL) today announced infusion of Rs 100 crore fresh equity this month, ahead of the launch of a series of new life term insurance policies in the first quarter of 2008.

Talking to newsmen here, IYL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kshitij Jain said that the Company was on course with its announcement last year of achieving a business of Rs 4500 crore by 2010 with the total premium collection for the current year expected to touch Rs 950 crore, of which the new premium alone would be Rs 620 crore. The Company currently had a capital base of Rs 790 crore. The IYL Board had mandated to take the capital to Rs 1380 crore before 2009.

He said IYL would have a total customer base of over one million by next year end with the new policies to be added numbering over 600,000.

He said the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) has recently approved a slew of new policies of the company which would be launched early next year. the new schemes would be pure term policies, which would be innovative in the industry.

He said the ambitious plan to scale up the company operations during the current calendar year had paid rich dividend with the growth in customer acquisition being 108 per cent during the second half of the year. The number of agents had gone up to 43,000 from 26,000 last year.

Stating that IYL foot print in South was phenomenal, especially in semi urban and rural areas, Mr Jain said that the company got 80 per cent of its business through its own channels. It had the fourth largest footprint in the South among the private insurance companies.

3 NAC members arrested for selling timber in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 14 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir police today arrested three officials, including an executive officer, of Sumbal Notified Area Committee (NAC) for selling willows illegally. Official sources said police on a tip-off arrested the three officials for selling willows of the NAC. The officials were identified as Anayatullah Banday, Executive officer, Ghulam Hassan Mir and Ali Mohammad Dar. The accused had sold willow trees of the NAC for Rs 2,55,000 without assessment from Forest department and permission.....

Action against police officers not submitting service arms

Patna, Dec 14 (UNI) The Bihar government today announced to take action against the Indian Police Service (IPS) officers who had failed to submit their service revolvers either after their transfer or retirement. Replying to a short notice question of RJD's Abdul Bari Siddiqui in the state Assembly, Energy Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav admitted that three retired IPS officers, a similar number of those on central deputation and three others who joined Jharkhand after reorganisation of the state, had failed to.....

Mizoram govt fails to combat Mautam: Cong

Aizawl, Dec 14(UNI) The opposition Congress today said that Mizoram is on the brink of famine as the "corrupt" MNF government "failed" to combat the devastation by 'Mautam' (bamboo flowering) related rodents despite sufficient central funds. The state is on the brink of a food crisis despite sufficient central funds to meet the situation arising out of 'Mautam', the opposition alleged.
