"I am ready to step down if leadership decides so"-Mahesh Sharma

Jaipur, Dec 14 (UNI) The ruling BJP state president Mahesh Sharma today expressed his readiness to step down if the party leadership wanted him to do so.

Talking to media persons here today Mr Sharma said, ''I do not want to respond to question about my own fate and the question should be directed to those who are foreseeing such possibilty but I want to say that I am ready to garland any incumbent if party chooses one to replace me''.

Mr Sharma's reply came in response to a question about his ''detractors'' claims about the change of leadership in the party state unit.

However, Mr Sharma maintained that there was no indiscipline in the party state unit and none of the party workers or leaders had committed any act which might tentamount to indiscipline or dissidence.

Mr Sharma said there might be difference of opinion in a democratic political set up but that did not tantamount to dissidence or indiscipline.

Mr Sharma also give clean chits to MLAs or ministers whose names had figured in media reports in connection with some land scams or other such allegations and ruled out party action against any such leaders.

He said mere levelling of allegations by anonymous persons could not form a basis for any action against any worker.

He said, '' so long the allegations are not proved the party has reasons to believe that the accused person is not guilty.'' He also opted to remain non committal over possibility of a cabinet expansion or reshuffle and political appointments in state government's boards and corporations and said this was the Chief Minister's prerogative and this possibility would remain open for ever.
