HC to have second thoughts on Blueline following SC judgement

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today refused to pass any order regarding the Blueline menace, saying it would proceed further only after going through the Supreme Court's recent judgement concerning judicial overreach.

The court was hearing a suo motu matter over the spurt in accidents by the Blueline buses in the capital.

A division bench, headed by Justice Mukul Mudgal and Reva Khetrapal, said they would not pass any order until they read the recent Supreme Court order severely criticising judicial overreach.

''We have to see the effect of the Supreme Court order (of December 6) on the proceedings of this case (Blueline menace),'' the bench said, adding ''we have not had the time to go through the judgment. It has just been handed over to us by an amicus curiae.'' The apex court had castigated the Delhi High Court on Monday for entertaining PILs on a host of public issues including the begging menace, nursery admission and traffic issues, particularly the blueline menace.

Although Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan sought to dispel the confusion yesterday, the judges appeared extremely wary of trading an uncertain path.
