Govt to ask Centre to stop screening of Da Vinci by HBO

Panaji, Dec 14 (UNI) The Cabinet here today decided to prevail upon the Centre to direct HBO channel not to screen the controversial film 'Da Vinci Code' in Goa which has sizeable the Catholic Christians community.

''We resolved to ask the Centre to do the needful as the channel had advertised to screen the film in Goa during the Christmas season.

This may hurt religious sentiments of Christians and hence, the decision,'' Chief Minister Digambar Kamat told during post-cabinet media briefing session at the Porvorim secretariat complex.

Public Works Department Minister Churchill Alemao, who was with him, raised the issue in the Cabinet which took cognisance of the problem immediately as the government did not like to face any awkward situation in the wake of the film screening, Mr Kamat added.
