Governor calls corporate world to employ ex-servicemen

Mumbai, Dec 14 (UNI) Maharashtra governor S M Krishna today observed that Armed Forces personnel, who retire in the prime of their life, between 35 and 45 years of age, often encounter problems of adjustment both within and outside the family and called upon the Corporate world and industry to employ ex-servicemen and their wards on priority basis as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Governor was speaking at the launch of the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund Collection Drive at Raj Bhavan, jointly organised by the City and Suburban District Collectorates.

Mentioning that ex-servicemen had to tackle problems like inability to find suitable jobs, reduced income and mounting family expenses, the Governor said the ex-servicemen who give the best years of their lives for the country certainly deserved a better deal from society.

Reiterating that rehabilitation of ex-servicemen should receive top priority from the government as well as civil society, the Governor felt the expertise and discipline of ex-servicemen could be utilised for important national tasks such as disaster management.

The Governor felicitated citizens, principals of schools and representatives of banks, industries and government departments for doing outstanding work of fund collection during the year 2006.

RCF rolls out first ''crash worthy'' coaches

Kapurthala, Dec 14 (UNI) The Rail Coach Factory (RCF) has started the production of ''crash worthy'' coaches to ensure the safety of passengers in case of accidents. The RCF rolled out the first ''crash worthy'' coach two days ago, RCF General Manager S K Suri said here today. Describing the features of these coaches, the GM said each coach was fitted with a central buffer coupler which would stop the climbing of coaches on each other at the time of accidents......

Rupee gains six paise amid high volatility

Mumbai, Dec 13: The Rupee today climbed up by about six paise to close at 39.34/35 against the US Dollar from its previous close of 39.395/405 amid high volatility in the Forex market.
