Goa offers Rs 5 per kg subsidy on sugar for BPL families

Panaji, Dec 14 (UNI) The Goa government has today offered Rs five per kg subsidy on levy sugar meant for people below poverty line.

Announcing this Cabinet decision at a press conference, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said this measure would benefit 1.29 lakh people holding 28,782 ration cards under Antyodaya Anna Yojana and Annapourna scheme.

Each beneficiary was entitled to buy half a kg sugar per month under the scheme. Enough stock of levy sugar would be made available from state-owned Sanjeevani Sugar factory if necessary, he added.

In yet another decision, the Cabinet had extended financial benefit of Rs 15,000 per month, now available for dialysis patients in hospitals to those undergoing self-dialysis, the CM added.

Rebels on the rampage in Assam;BJP leader killed,AGP MLA injured

Guwahati, Dec 14 (UNI) In continuing violence in Assam militants todat gunned down a BJP leader and critically wounded an AGP MLA. Unidentified insurgents killed veteran BJP leader Munindra Singh Laskar at his Rangia residence last night. He was at home talking to his business associate when the rebels walked in and shot him dead. Laskar was a senior BJP and RSS functionary before he fell out and quit the party. New Delhi, Dec 14: Ebony Retail, the retail arm of the DS Constructions group, today announced its foray into speciality retail and will open 20 outlets pan-India over the next two years, infusing an investment of Rs 120 crore. Badal releases Rs 100 crore cheque for Amritsar

Chandigarh, Dec 14 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today released an amount of Rs 100 crore for the development of Amritsar.
