Girl arrested for killing beau in J

Jammu, Dec 14 (UNI) A girl was arrested for plotting the murder of her boyfriend in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, a police spokesman today said.

According to him, the arrested local girl, Asha, have confessed to her involvement in the murder of Vikrant Sharma, 25, whose body was recovered from a canal in Kathua town with multiple wounds on December 8.

The duo was in a relationship reportedly for the past four years but when she proposed marriage to him, he refused and started blackmailing her.

Police said Asha took the help of another person, Tajinder Singh, who also liked her, and the duo planned to trap Vikrant.

Asha called on Vikrant's mobile phone and invited him to meet at an isolated place near Sawan Chak in the outskirts of Kathua town where she, along with her paramour was waiting for him.

''As and when Vikrant reached the place, both Asha and Tajinder attacked him with a dagger and inflicted critical wounds. After he fell unconscious, the duo dragged and threw him into the nearby canal,'' police said.

The case was solved after police traced the calls received by the victim on his mobile.

The girl was picked up by police yesterday and during sustained questioning, she broke down and committed to the crime. Police were yet to assest Tejinder Singh.
