England success should lift India's spirits in Australia: Chauhan

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) Stating that England tour is much tougher than a sojourn Down Under, Team India's administrative manager for Australia series Chetan Chauhan today said the Men in Blue's recent success at the Queen's land should act as a moral booster for them against Ricky Ponting's boys.

''Australia series would be a tough one but according to my view England tour is the toughest and India's recent success there should lift their spirits in Australia,'' Chauhan said at a function organised by the Rohtak Gymkhana Club to honour his appointment as manager.

The 60-year-old former India opener also said his playing experience in the Australian soil would be very handy for the team.

''My experience in Australia will be of immense help for the team in Australia. Apart from playing, I stayed for four years there,'' he said.

Chauhan, who was also the manager of the Indian team in the home series against Australia in 2001 which the hosts won 2-1, said the present Indian team would give the Australians a run for their money in the four-Test series.

''The present Indian team is in a upbeat mood after their success in the away series against South Africa and England and the just-concluded home series against Pakistan, which they won after a long gap of 27 years.

''If the Aussies think that they can beat us easily, then it would be a mistake,'' he said.

Apart from Chauhan, the club also felicitated young Delhi pacer Ishant Sharma for his five-wicket haul in Bangalore against Pakistan which earned him a berth in squad for Australia.

Dashing opener Virender Sehwag was also to be felicitated but did not turn up.
