Deccan to launch daily flights in NE region from Dec 20

Bangalore, Dec 14(UNI) The low cost airliner Deccan today announced the launch of new daily flights connecting Guwahati to Silchar and Aizawl from December 20 through an ATR aircraft.

Officiating CEO of the Airliner Ramki Sundaram in a release here said Deccan's new flights connecting Aizawl, Silchar and Guwahati will provide the convenient option of air travel at affordable fares for business people, professionals, students, housewives and senior citizens alike.

He said air connectivity in the region was the key to harness the potential of cities in the North East and facilitating the growth of industry and commerce.

With the mode of travel generally being buses and trains which make the journey long and arduous, Deccan 's flights offer highly convenient air connectivity at affordable fares. Deccan already connects Guwahati, Baghdogra, Aizawl, Dimapur, Silchar and Imphal in the North East.

Goa offers Rs 5 per kg subsidy on sugar for BPL families

Panaji, Dec 14 (UNI) The Goa government has today offered Rs five per kg subsidy on levy sugar meant for people below poverty line. Announcing this Cabinet decision at a press conference, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said this measure would benefit 1.29 lakh people holding 28,782 ration cards under Antyodaya Anna Yojana and Annapourna scheme. Bihar may receive Rs 800 crores credit from World Bank

Patna, Dec 14 (UNI) The World Bank is likely to extend a credit facilty of Rs 800 crores to the Bihar government by March 2008 for improvement of its sagging infrastructure, Deputy Chief Minister- cum-Finance Minister Sushil Kumar Modi informed today.
