BJP non committal over Shekhawat's role in party

Jaipur, Dec 14 (UNI) The ruling BJP state president Mahesh Sharma today remained non committal over former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat's possible role in BJP politics.

Talking to mediapersons here today Mr Sharma said that Mr Shekhawat was now a towering national figure and his stature was much above the party politics.

He said that Mr Shekhawat's vision and actions would continue to benefit the nation.

He said that Mr Shekhawat had raised a very important issue of synchronised and timebound elections for all democratic bodies right from Panchayats to Lok Sabha.

'' A debate has already been initiated over this issue at the naitonal level and I am hopeful that personality like Mr Shekhawat will succeed to take the debate to a fruitful conclusion,'' Mr Sharma added.

The BJP state chief said BJP was proud of the fact that such a towering personality had rose to such heights from BJP's forum.

However, he evaded reply to a question whether L K Advani's projection as BJP's prime ministerial candidate marred Mr Shekhawat's political prospects.
