Antony receives dividend from Garden Reach

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) The Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) has paid Rs 10 crore dividend to the Government.

Rear Admiral (Retd) TS Ganeshan, CMD, GRSE presented a cheque for the amount to Defence Minister AK Antony here today towards the Interim Dividend for the current financial year.

The Kolkata based mini-Ratna defence shipyard has embarked upon a Rs 400 crore modernization plan and has already acquired the Raja Bagan Dockyard as a first step in this direction.

The expansion will help in adding new capacities for building modern warships for the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard, an official release said here tonight.

Mehta lodges complaint against Modi

Ahmedabad, Dec 14 (UNI) Suresh Mehta, former BJP Chief Minister, who recently quit the Party, today lodged a complaint with the Election Commission, claiming that the live telecast of an interview of Chief Minister Narendra Modi to be aired on a local channel at 1930 hours today was a clear violation of Model Code of Conduct as campaigning ended this evening at 1700 hours. Ballia bypoll: 4 nominations withdrawn

Ballia, Dec 14 (UNI) Four candidates today withdrew nomination for bypoll to Ballia Lok Sabha constituency on December 29. The seat fell vacant after the death of former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar. Today was the last date to withdraw nominations. Now, 16 candidates, including Chandrashekhar's son Neeraj Shekhar, are in the fray, Assistant Returning Officer Dr S N Singh said.
