Adventure Tourism convention to be held in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) Tourism Minister Ambika Soni will inaugurate the Sixth Annual Convention of Adventure Tour Operators Association of India ( ATOAI) on December 17.

Ms Soni will release a special 30 Second Television Commercial on Adventure Tourism and also release the Report on Incredible India campaign during 2007.

Adventure Travel is one of the important segments of the travel industry and India being blessed with snow-clad peaks, large glaciers, meadows and ski slopes, beautiful valleys, rivers, waterfalls, thick forests rich in wildlife, swampy deltas, long coastlines and magical moonscapes offer great scope for all kinds of Adventure activities .

The Convention on "Adventure Tourism: The Next Step," sought to generate more interest in adventure travel both for the Domestic and International travellers.

National and International experts in the adventure travel segment would participate in the convention, considered as the single largest forum in the field.

"The prime focus of this convention is to create widespread awareness about the multi-dimensional face of the Indian tourism sector. It seeks to promote India as one of the most exciting Adventure Tourism destinations in the world and intends focusing on the innumerable adventure and eco-tourism opportunities in the country," Official sources said.

Cut wasteful expenditure of energy: President

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today said wasteful expenditure of energy should be reduced while monitoring energy consumption patterns. ''I would call on all individuals, businesses, corporate organisations, Government offices and others to look at their energy consumption patterns and cut out wasteful expenditure of energy,'' she said. 5 killed, 17 injured in building collapse; enquiry ordered

Mumbai, Dec 14 (UNI) Close on the heels of the Laxmi Chhaya building collapse in Borivali some time back, an under construction transit building caved in Shimpoli in the western suburbs of the metropolis killing five people and injuring 17 others this morning. The injured were rushed to the local government hospital, where condition of four was stated to be critical. According to the police, the building was originally a transit camp which was being reconstructed into a four-storeyed building. The.....
