3 year-old thrown from third storey has providential escape

Panipat, Dec 14 (UNI) A three-year-boy had a lucky escape after he was thrown from a three-storey building by an armed criminal last night.

The boy, Mayank was admitted in a private hospital and reported to be out of danger.

The criminal after looting gold ornaments of around 35 Tolas and throwing down the child, managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

According to information, an unidentified person knocked at the door of a house in local Aggarwal colony last evening and as soon as Ruchi, the house wife opened the door, held her captive at knife point.

The man, after looting about 35 Tolas of ornaments, took the three-year-old son to the third floor threatening that if she raised an alarm, he will throw the boy down.

However, when Ruchi raised an alarm, the criminal jumped over to the adjacent building, threw the boy from the third-storey and escaped.

Luckily, the boy fell upon some bags filled with rags and escaped with some injuries.

As Ruchi fainted after the incident, it took some time for the neighbourers to know the incident and inform the police.

The police have registered a case and had called in dog squad and finger prints experts to nab the culprit.

Consumer Forum asks insurance company to pay Rs one lakh

Fatehabad, Dec 14 (UNI) The District Consumer Forum today directed an insurance company to pay Rs one lakh to sons of an accident victim, in settlement of their insurance claim. Karan Singh and Rajbir Singh, two brothers of village Bhodia Khera in this district had filed a complaint in the forum that their father Ram Kishan had died after being injured in a road accident here in August, 2005. Former SHO sent to CBI custody till December 22

Patiala, Dec 14 (UNI) A local court today sent former Station House Officer (SHO) Raman Kumar, allegedly involved in the Moga sex scandal, into CBI custody till December 22. BMC's Clean Up Marshalls collect Rs 10,34,040 in fines

Mumbai, Dec 14 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's Clean Up Marshall's have collected Rs 10,34,040 in fines from 3540 offenders in the first month of their operations. Speaking in a press conference, Municipal Commissioner Jairaj Phatak said, ''Apart from the fine collected, more than 13,000 people have been educated and warned regarding cleanliness.''
