Snowfall dampens HP's election campaign

Shimla, 13 Dec, 2007 : Heavy snowfall has dampened the spirit of election campaigning in the poll-bound state of Himachal Pradesh. Because of the snow, political rallies ahead of the elections have been cancelled.

It has also worried the local administration apprehending problems especially if it snows around polling dates.

Srinagar, Mar 13: The Kashmir valley remained cut-off from the rest of the country for the third day today after the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway was closed due to heavy snowfall and landslides leading to shortage of most essential commodities.More than one thousand vehicles, including about those carrying passengers, are stranded on this side of the Penthal, the most troubled spot on the highway.A traffic police official told sources here that the highway remained closed because of landslides.....

Srinagar, Dec 27: About three thousand vehicles, including those carrying passengers, are stranded on the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, which has been closed since yesterday due to landslides and snowfall. Official sources said the highway remain closed for second day today due to fresh landslides at Penthal, about 130 km from here. They said the Border Road Organisation, responsible for the maintenance of the highway have pressed into service machines and men to clear.....

Srinagar, Feb 3: The 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway was closed yet again due to heavy snowfall and landslides, triggered by rains. A traffic police official said, the highway, only road linking the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, was closed for traffic movement this morning following landslides triggered by rains at Penthal.
