Panchkula DC issues strict norms for mobile connections

Chandigarh, Dec 11 (UNI) Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Rajendra Kataria has directed all mobile companies having their operations in the district to provide connections to the users only after obtaining concrete and authentic residential proofs along with the photograph of the user.

He said these companies should keep a proper record of the connections issued by them.

The Deputy Commissioner has also directed the mobile companies to send the detailed monthly reports in this regard to the Superintendent of Police, Panchkula, so as to enable the local police to carry out verification of character and antecedents of the user.

He directed the mobile shop owners dealing with sale, purchase and repair of old mobile phones, to keep a full record of all the transactions.

He said an affidavit had to be given which would have all verified details of sellers and purchasers of the old phones.

The affidavit should clearly state the name and address of the seller and purchaser and International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number of mobile set, he added.

Mr Kataria said that many times it was found that mobile companies were issuing connections to the users without proper verification of their residential proofs and photographs, due to which many anti social and criminal activities were taking place.
