Court restrains DHBVN from rcovering arrears from widow

Fatehabad, Dec 11 (UNI) The District Consumer Forum today restrained the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam from recovering electricity arrears of a deceased person from his wife.

Dalip Kaur, a widow from Ratia town in this district had filed a complaint before the forum alleging that the DHBVN had sent her a notice asking her to pay Rs 29333, which it claimed was arrear of bills against her deceased husband Teja Singh, who had died on November 8, 2001.

She had alleged in her complaint that the electricity connection installed in the name of her deceased husband had been disconnected by the power nigam on August 28, 2005.

She had applied for a fresh connection, which was installed by the authorities, but they later, sent her a notice to pay Rs 29333.

The forum president N C Nahata, and members Rajiv Mehta and Raj Bala Sheoran found the demand made by the DHBVN unjustified and has directed it not to recover the same.

The forum also directed the nigam to pay a compensation of Rs 1000 for harassing the widow.

Mayawati writes to PM to increase DAP allocation

Lucknow, Dec 11 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has written a letter to Prime minister Manmohan Singh demanding additional allocation of one lakh tonne of DAP fertiliser to meet the demand of the agriculture sector of the state. The CM has also urged the PM to make available 60,000 tonne of DAP within the next fortnight.
