Five children injured in Pakistan suicide attack

Islamabad, Dec 10: At least seven people, including five children, were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up close to a school bus in Kamra town today. The bomber targeted a military school bus in the town, known for housing aeronautical complex and an air force base.

The injured children were immediately shifted to hospital for treatment, as security forces cordoned off the area and started investigations.

Chief military spokesman Major General Waheed Arshad said the bus was carrying 30 to 35 children when it was attacked.

At least 20 people were killed in two suicide attacks, one near the offices of inter services intelligence and other close to the army's General Headquarters in Rawalpindi last month.

More than 300 people have been killed in a series of suicide attacks in northern Pakistan and Islamabad since last July's military operation in the Capital's radical Lal Masjid.

President Pervez Musharraf had imposed a state of emergency on November 3 in the country citing Islamic militancy and suicide attacks as the main reason. However, noticing improvement in situation, he had announced to lift it by December 16 during his November 29 address to the nation.
