I am here to talk about future: Rahul Gandhi

Surat, Dec 9: Urging the voters of Gujarat not to get carried away by "lies of the BJP Government in the State", Congress MP from Amethi, Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said that he has come to talk about future and not the past. "I don't want to talk about the past; I want to talk about the future. You people need to construct a new Gujarat. You have taken Gujarat to great heights in the last 50 years, and you are the ones who will take it further," the newly appointed secretary general of the Congress party said, while addressing a rally here.

As the campaigning for the first phase of the Assembly polls in the State comes to an end this evening, Congress party sent Rahul Gandhi to the State in an effort to garner more support for the party.

Coming down heavily against the Narendra Modi government in the State, Rahul said," This government (BJP government in Gujarat) thinks that if a lie is said at a high pitch it becomes a truth by magic. This government thinks that if a lie is said in fierce manner, people speaking truth will run away."

He said that the BJP is creating false impression about the development in the State.

"This government says that Gujarat is the first as far as investments are concerned, but the truth is that Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka and Maharashtra are far ahead of it. They say that they have worked a lot for the adivasis (tribals), have given them homes to live; but truth is that the adivasis have not got papers for any piece of land," he said.

He also carried out road shows in the adjoining areas.
