Somnath hails Dola, Anil Kumble for their victories

New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today called it a matter of great pride and joy that one of India's women archers Dola Banerjee had won the Archery World Championship in Dubai on November 24.

He said her victory had brought laurels to the country.

The Speaker further informed the Lok Sabha that the Indian Cricket team had won the first test match in the ongoing series with Pakistan in Delhi today.

He said, ''I am sure the House would join me in congratulating Dola Banerjee and Anil Kumble and his teammates on their accomplishments.'' UNI

Walawalkar emerges overall winner

Typhoon hits northern Philippines, heads for Taiwan

MANILA, Nov 26 (Reuters) Typhoon Mitag swirlled out to sea today after killing 8 people, destroying homes and flooding rice paddies in the northern Philippines.
