CPI names four candidates for HP polls


Shimla, Nov 17: The Himachal Pradesh unit of the CPI has announced the names of four candidates for the second phase of Himachal Pradesh polls, which are due on December 19.

The party has decided to field Mr Vipatraj from Hamirpur assembly constituency, Mr Raj Kumar from Karsog, Ms Kamlesh Kumari from Kasauli and Jeet Chaudhary from Kot Kehloor assembly constituency, party secretary Vasudev Vasu said.

He said the party would announce the names of candidates from Kangra, Banikhet in Chamba district and Arki constituencies in Solan district after its meeting on October 21.

The CPI and the CPM have already decided to form a joint front to contest the Himachal assembly elections on the slogan of defeat both the BJP and Congress for the state's development and progress, he added.

The elections to the three tribal constituencies of Kinnaur, Lahaul Spiti and Bharmaur were held in the first phase on November 14, while polls for the remaining 65 assembly constituencies would be held on December 19.

Lenovo to pump in $10 mn to set up plant in HP
