Speaking here at the 2533rd Nirvana Mahotsav of Lord Mahaveer on Nov 9, Mr Kumar said Nalanda was a place of worship for the Jains as well as Buddhists.
''Its pristine purity has been acknowledged over the years and we must work for providing better infrastructure and civic facilities in this pious place,'' the Chief Minister said.
He maintained that the state government was committed to establishing a medical college at Pavapuri soon.
He also instructed the district administration to hold discussions with the farmers for land acquisition with their consent.
He also urged the people to follow the footsteps of Lord Mahaveer.
''Lord Mahaveer's teachings are very relevant in today's world for restoring the peace amid the threats of increasing extremist activities,'' Mr Kumar added.
