Former Vice Chancellor staging Dharna on Language

Mysore, Nov 10: Former Vice Chancellor of Mysore University and noted writer Prof D Javare Gowda popularly known as Dejagow, today staging a day long hunger strike demanding the classical language status for Kannada.

Dejagow's day long strike began in front of the Kuvempu trust in the city was supported by the various Kannada organisations along with noted writers and others.

Karnataka state open university vice chancellor Prof B A Vivek Rai also participated in strike for some time.

Mr Gowda has been staging hunger strike for the fourth time pressing for his demand union government to confer the Classical status for the Kannada since last two years.

Speaking to newsmen Mr Javare Gowda, alleged that the UPA government was showing the stepmotherly attitude towards Karnataka and its kannada language.

Mr Dejagow also urged all the member of parliament from Karnataka and Union minister representing the state should bring pressure on Union Government on the issue.
