No injustice to Telangana region: Minister

Hyderabad, Nov 7: Denying that any injustice had been done to the Telangana region in setting up a super-speciality hospital, Andhra Pradesh Health Minister S Chandrasekar today said there was no proposal with the Government to establish the hospital in the region.

In a written reply to Mr K Nagesh and other TRS members, he said the question of injustice to the region did not arise as the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences, a super-speciality hospital, was already operating in the region.

The Rayalaseema Institute of Medical Sciences, set up in Kadapa, was not a super-speciality hospital, the Minister explained, adding that an amount of Rs 43.89 crore had been spent in 2007-08 and Rs 133.36 crore in 2006-07.

The Tirupati-based Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences had spent Rs six crore in 2007-08 and Rs 2.9 crore in 2006-07.
