Kumaraswamy meets M P Prakash

Bangalore, Oct 31: In a patch up bid, former Karnataka Chief Minister and Janata Dal(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy today met rebel leader M P Prakash and made efforts to assuage his ruffled feelings. Mr Prakash had raised the banner of revolt against the party stand to re-estblish the coalition government with the Bharatiya Janata Party even as he was making efforts to form an alternative government with the help of the Congress as desired by the party legislators.

Mr Kumaraswamy spent some time with Mr Prakash and requested him to remain with the party and guide the youngsters like him. Mr Prakash maintained his cool and did not commit anything, party sources said.

JD(S) National President H D Devegowda too was likely to meet Mr Prakash later in the day and persuade him to remain with the party soon after returning here from a tour of Ahobila Mutt in Andhra Pradesh.

K'taka: Janapada Jathre row gets complicated

Bangalore, May 14: The row over chief minister H D Kumaraswamy's pet programme Janapada Jathre (folk fair) is set to boil over even as the matter is expected to be discussed in the cabinet on Monday.Kannada and culture minister H S Mahadev Prasad has ordered the Jathre to be halted to "restructure it and reduce expenditure." But the minister has taken exception to Jathre convener Sreenivas G Kappanna going to the media stating that "no reason has been attributed" for.....
