Govt hospitals workers to protest in Mumbai


Mumbai, Oct 30: Class 3 and 4 workers, working in the various government-run hospitals and departments in Maharashtra, will strike on Tuesday, to push forth their various demands.

Their demands include wage increase, implementation of sixth pay commission, and bonus.

Speaking to the sources, President of J J Hospital class 4 staff, Raja Shivtarkar, said ''More than 2 lakh people are on a 24-hour strike from 0600 hrs tomorrow to press for our demands.'' The workers include sweepers, nurses, aayahs, ward boys, peons and other staff, and will affect the day to day work in the hospitals and other government departments.

It may be noted that around 2,000 doctors from various state run hospitals were on a casual leave yesterday, after the government failed to fulfil their long-pending demands.
